Wilford returns to AGR for 2023 JuniorGP campaign

Britain’s Sam Wilford will return to the FIM JuniorGP Moto2 Championship in 2023 with current outfit AGR.

Having joined the squad for the close of the 2020 campaign, the 25-year-old will continue his relationship with the Spanish based team after a season clouded by injury.

Following a fifth place finish in the opening race of the 2022 season at Estoril, Wilford suffered a high speed accident into the barriers from second in race two, leaving the Brit with broken arm and tibia and forced to sit out for the majority of the season.

AGR’s continued support of Wilford has led to the collaboration confirming its 2023 campaign with a ‘renewed spirit’ to target podiums in the Junior Championship.

“I am very excited to stay with the AGR team for another season,” Wilford confirmed. “It’s a great opportunity to show my potential next year being back fully fit after the accident that cut my season short this year. I really can’t wait to get started again in the new year, let’s see what is possible!”

“We started very well in Estoril,” Team Manager Anscari Nadal reflected. “But after the incident and with a lot of hard work and effort we made small positive steps until the end of the season, even though the consequences of the accident did not allow him to be at 100 percent.

“The main goal is to return to where we left off in 2022 and with hard work, we hope to be at the highest level, both rider and team. It’s an honour to fight with Sam at the front, who we hope to see on the podium next season”
