Winfield moves to Superstock 1000 with TAG Racing in 2020

Bennetts British Superbike regular Shaun Winfield will switch to the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series for 2020 to run the new Yamaha YZF-R1.

Winfield has spent five years in the blue riband class, racing under his dad's tutelage but now has his eyes fixed on running at the front of the litre-bike support class.

“I’m excited for 2020, some may see this as a step down however I don’t, it was my choice to make the move to Superstock 1000 it’s one I’m excited about," said Winfield

“I’ve loved my time in Superbikes, I’ve learnt so much and the experiences I’ve had will be
extremely valuable next season. The new R1 looks great on paper and I feel with a strong winter under our belts, which the team have planned, we’ll be strong from the outset at round one.

“My aim is to win races, fight for the podium and be back at the front again where I know I can be. I’m under no illusions that it’s going to be easy, because it isn’t, but I’m looking forward to the challenge and ultimately I want to be challenging at the front, and prove a lot
of doubters wrong.”

The move means team owner Rob Winfield has two available seats in BSB, one of which is currently occupied by Dan Linfoot.
