Andrea Iannone could be facing a four-year ban from competition if a request from the World Anti-Doping Agency is listened to.
WADA has written to the Court for Arbitration in Sport asking for the Italian MotoGP star to be banned for 48 months when his hearing comes before the tribuneral.
Iannone is appealing against an 18-month ban by the FIM after he was found to have broken anti-doping regulations and that hearing has not yet been fixed.
WADA want to see the Aprilia rider finish his MotoGP career on the sidelines and in disgrace whereas Iannone seeks the anullment of the FIM’s decision so he can return to competition this year.
