WorldSBK Donington: ‘Track is pretty special’ - Gerloff| WorldSBK Staff | WorldSBK
GYTR GRT Yamaha’s Garrett Gerloff is harnessing successful memories as WorldSBK returns to Donington Park this weekend.
Topping Friday practice and second in last season’s final race at the British track, the American has a firm affinity with the Donington layout. The 26-year-old is hoping to make a return to the rostrum after a run of top-ten form across Misano’s opening two battles last time out before a crash in the final race curtailed his progress.
After a month to reset, Gerloff is eager to get to work for round five.
“I’m so excited for Donington, I love the British fans and energy,” Gerloff said ahead of the Prosecco DOC UK event. “The track to me is pretty special, there’s a lot of history and it reminds me of a lot of American tracks that are really close to my heart.
“We had a nice weekend last year for the most part and I’d love to have a similar one this time. I cannot wait to get there and be back with my team after this little break.”
