WorldSBK introduces long-lap penalty for 2021

WorldSBK bosses have announced the introduction of the long-lap penalty for 2021.

The measure, which has already been adopted by MotoGP and British Superbikes, will come into force at the start of next season.

It will not be mandatory at all circuits as some may not be suitable, so decisions on where it will be applied is down to the the FIM Safety Officer.

Riders will also have laptimes cancelled if they pass a yellow flag in an effort to get them to slow down.

A missive from the Superbike Commission reads:
