WorldSBK teams should use Italian series as training - Bevilacqua

Althea Racing boss Genesio Bevilacqua believes that WorldSBK teams should use the Italian CIV Superbike series as training while they wait for the global series to re-start.

Bevilacqua, who won the title with Carlos Checa in 2011, thinks that as all the teams are based in Europe and Italy looks like it is now on its way out of the pandemic, the CIV series should be utilised.

"We should urge the organizer to contact and invite as many World Cup pilots as possible," said Bevilacqua. “The bike would be a little less technical, but the riders could train and the CIV would become more important at the same time.

"That seems to me to be a perspective for the next four to six weeks. We should focus on the CIV first, because we cannot leave Italy with our teams.

"Because Spain, France and Great Britain are still in the middle of the fight against the virus, we shouldn't go there either."
