Factory Honda WorldSBK star Alvaro Bautista believes it is 'a question of time' before he is able to lift the championship title.
The little Spaniard is confident HRC will deliver him the bike required to win the title he looked like walking away with last year but there is a lot of work to do before it happens.
"Our bike has really good potential, but we have to work to put everything in the right place. I don’t think we are far away from the front riders but maybe we need to fix many things," said Bautista.
"I have a lot of confidence for the rest of the season because we showed we weren’t too far away and could fight for good positions in the races.”
"I think I have a really strong factory behind me to be World Champion. It’s just a question of time. I don’t know if it’ll be this season or next season but for sure we are pushing for that. It is my target and also it is Honda’s target.”
The enforced break means a different season than the one originally planned, which won't work in Bautista's favour.
“For sure it will be a shorter season than normal. For us, it is worse because we need more time on track. In the winter tests we didn’t really have a good time so we cannot work as we wanted. For sure, it will be a disadvantage for us.”
