Yamaha’s Suzuka Eight-Hours boss Wataru Yoshikawa is hopeful that Michale van der Mark will be fit enough to join the team for July’s iconic race.
The Dutch WorldSBK star broke his wrist in a whopping highside at Misano and will not ride at the Donington round.
However, Yoshikawa understands van der Mark will try and ride at Laguna Seca the following weekend.
“It sounds like Michael is doing well after his surgery and while he will sit out the U.K. round, he wants to try returning to action at Laguna Seca,” he said.
“His participation in the Eight-Hours will all come down to his condition, but we all sincerely hope he can recover quickly and be with us at Suzuka to race for a fifth win.”
Van der Mark missed this week’s test after undergoing surgery in Rimini Hospital on Monday.
