Frenchmsn Johann Zarco has been officially confirmed in the Reale Avintia Ducati MotoGP team for MotoGP 2020.
After quitting the works KTM squad halfway through this season and then landing a stand-in ride at LCR Honda, Zarco has managed to nail down a contract with the Ducati factory which has placed him in the Avintia squad where he will get a GP19 for 2020.
Zarco will be as mine of information for Gigi Dall'Igna as when he tests for Ducati in February he will have ridden four different MotoGP bikes in the space of 16 months after stints on Yamaha, KTM and Honda.
“I am very pleased to officially announce my signature with Ducati for 2020 season in MotoGP category in the Reale Avintia Racing Team,” said Zarco.
“My left ankle is recovering well, I can enjoy now my winter time having rest with family and training again very soon.”
As part of Avintia’s increased exposure to the factory, they will get two Ducati Corse track engineers and two electronics engineers for the season to help optimise performance for both Zarco and team-mate Tito Rabat.
Team boss Raul Romero added: “I am really happy and excited with the arrival of a great rider like Johann Zarco to our team from the hand of Ducati.
“This further strengthens the growth of the team after extending the contract with Ducati, making a leap of quality in terms of material by becoming a satellite team.
