2014 Macau GP: First lap ‘mistake’ ends Hutchy challenge

PBM Kawasaki’s Ian Hutchinson had to hand over his Macau GP number one plate to Stuart Easton after an error on the brakes at turn three on the first lap of today’s race ended his chances of keeping it.

Hutchinson came off the second row to be in contention as the pack poured down towards the tight right-hander at Lisboa but just mis-judged his braking and went straight on. He then slipped off a lap later at slow speed and that was the end of that.

“I felt I had good pace but it just wasn't to be this year. Practice and qualifying went OK but I made a mistake on the opening lap and that was my race over. Then I tipped off at walking pace trying to make up lost ground and that was that. Well done to Stuart on a fantastic win, if I had to hand my number one plate over to anyone, it would be him,” said Hutchy.
