2016 North West 200: Lintin makes it a Supertwin double

Ivan Lintin took a comfortable victory in Saturday afternoon’s North West 200 Supertwin race although it was another race to end early due to a red flag, this time caused by a crash at Dhu Varren.

Lintin seized control of the race from the very beginning and consistently pulled away during the course of the three full laps that took place. Aided by a new class lap record of 109.304mph, the Devitt RC Express Racing rider was over five seconds clear of Martin Jessopp when the red flag came out.

Jessopp had been locked in battle with Malachi Mitchell-Thomas from the first lap prior to the incident but he took second for his third podium of the week with Jeremy McWilliams giving some much needed joy to the KMR Kawasaki team with third.

James Cowton, Michael Sweeney and Darren James, on another KMR Kawasaki, took third. James Hillier, meanwhile, had to sit out the race – and the remainder of the day – having suffered concussion in his spill in the earlier Superstock race.
