Cooper extends lead in Thundersport Aprilia RRV series

Manxman Callan Cooper extended his lead over the Aprilia RRV pack during last weekend's Thundersport meeting at Snetterton after weather made tyre and gearing choices tricky.

With the exception of Colchester rider Tom Oliver, all the front runners had falls over the two days' racing in the testing conditions. In addition to the wet and damp track situation, the wind speed and direction changes caught a number of the riders out including Cooper.

Despite the fall leading the second race on the Saturday, Cooper put in mature performances with three podium results including a win in race one on Sunday.

"I had worked my way to the front on the last lap and new it was going to be a grandstand finish for all of us, the key at this track is to get yourself in a good position with regards slip-streaming on the drag out of the final corner, the rider who leads out of this corner dragging two or three riders with him will not usually take the win, the wind caught me out going onto the back straight, great race though and a good win for Tom," he said.
