Aspar confirm Hernandez for MotoGP 2016

Team Aspar have today confirmed they will run Columbian Yonny Hernandez in the 2016 Moto World Championship but has made no mention of the machinery to be used next season despite the fact Hernandez is contracted to Ducati for next year.

It is believed Aspar will switch to Bologna power for next season, along with the mandatory Michelin tyres and spec-ECU, and run Desmosedici GP14.2 bikes. It is also almost certain Hernandez will be joined in the team by Eugene Laverty, who had a two-year deal with the Aspar outfit.

“I am very excited to be joining the Aspar Team, we have been trying to work together for a few seasons now but never reached an agreement but finally we are together. I am really happy to form part of the Aspar Team, and my objective is to work hard and give everything to achieve the best possible results for the team next season,” said Hernandez.

“I know the Aspar Team is a very professional outfit and I am sure that we can reach a high level next season. This is a winning team, as they have shown over many years, and I am hopeful we can adapt quickly to the changes for 2016 and benefit from them. It will be a new challenge, with all of the riders starting from scratch with the new electronics and tyres.”
