Bradley Ray to ride at Sepang MotoGP test

British Superbike star Bradley Ray will get his first taste of MotoGP power at Sepang as he will join the test team this weekend.

Ray will ride alongside Sylvain Guintoli on Sunday at the Malaysian circuit as a reward for his efforts for the Hamamatsu brand.

"I can’t wait, obviously. I’ve been around the Grand Prix paddock before when I was doing Red Bull Rookies and the aim has always been to get back there, and, honestly, I can’t thank Suzuki enough for the opportunity," said Ray.

"Not only am I testing a MotoGP bike I’m testing one of the best on the grid, when you think it finished on the podium half of the time last year and I think Rins was the top points-scorer in the last four races. Suzuki’s development has been really impressive since they came back.

"I’ll have to learn the circuit as I’ve not been to Sepang before, and I’ll have to get my head around the additional electronics and new tyres, but I hope I can be equally impressive and show what I can do."

Ray finished sixth in BSB in 2018, scoring a double win at the start of the year for the Buildbase Suzuki squad, earning his chance to sample grand prix machinery.

He also contested the Donington World Superbike round as a wildcard last year, finishing both races in the points.

Ray joined the Yoshimura Suzuki team for both the Suzuka Eight-Hours and the final race of the All-Japan Superbike series at the same track at the end of the year.
