Brands BSB: Easton still searching for ‘sweet spot’

PBM Kawasaki’s Stuart Easton is still trying to find, what he describes as the “sweet spot” on his ZX-10R and struggled a bit with some set-up issues during the MCE British Superbike race weekend at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

Top five was the aim for the wee Scot, but he ultimately wanted to get back on to the podium like he did at Donington Park a few weeks ago. But in the end he had to settle for a solid fifth and sixth on Sunday.

He may not have had that extra pace to battle for a podium in the early part of the races, but Easton is still in Showdown contention and is fourth in the overall championship standings.

“Top five was the aim, if not a little bit higher. We had a podium in Donington and we are pretty much running in the top six, but it has been a solid weekend, but not a mega one,” said Easton, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“I felt we could have been better setup wise – and we struggled a bit here. In the early part of the races I got dropped pretty big, but we have a test at Oulton on Friday so we can work on that there. The bike is different balance wise from last year, but this year I have carried through my confidence from last year - but I need to find that sweet spot for sure.”
