Brands BSB: Ray snatches debut Supersport pole

FAB-Racing Yamaha’s Brad Ray grabbed his first outright Dickies British Supersport pole position after finding half a second with under a minute remaining to jump to the top of the time sheets.

Several riders held provisional pole position, most notably WD40 Kawasaki’s Tarran Mackenzie who sat comfortably in pole with three minutes remaining, having posted the fastest lap of the weekend.

However, it all changed in the closing stages with Ray jumping to pole. He ended up just two tenths of a second outside of the lap record, posting a 1'27.840.

Then Gearlink Kawasaki’s Mason Law followed him up the order to second place. Law was unable to hold onto second though, due to Westmoreland grabbing it away from him with the chequered flag out.

So, for the first of this afternoon’s sprint races the front row reads Ray, Westmoreland and Law. The second row is headed by the unfortunate Mackenzie who dropped backwards from that provisional pole. He will sit alongside Northern Irishman Andrew Irwin.

Rounding out the second row of the grid, having overcome early setup issues to get to within half a second of the pole setter, is Came BPT Yamaha’s Joe Francis. Championship protagonist Andy Reid will sit seventh on the grid and joining him on the third row of the grid will be David Allingham and Luke Jones.
