Brands BSB: Team owner Hill plans to be back next year

ePayMe Yamaha’s Team Manager Tommy Hill aims to be back in the MCE British Superbike championship in 2017, after ending the season with double podium success.

The year has not been a straight-forward one for the former champ, as his team had to develop the R1 and had to contend with injuries to rider John Hopkins, which included a dislocated collarbone and four broken ribs, which took him months to recover from.

He also switched rider’s, from starting with Stuart Easton and ending the year with Yamaha Endurance rider, Broc Parkes. But the two second place finishes for Hopkins at the final round at Brands Hatch was a ‘dream come true’ for Hill.

But he had to wait until the last day of the season for his team to secure their maiden rostrum finish. Now Hill is focusing his efforts on securing deals and contracts for BSB next year, with the aim of making an impact in 2017.

”It's been pretty over-whelming - the hard graft that goes into this team and for John to top it off with two podiums as a brand new team is a dream come true. Deep down we knew that John had it in him, and once he got a way with the leaders he had the pace and challenged for the win,” said Hill, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“We will probably be back on it on Tuesday and to find a future for the team. There has been a bit of movement in the sponsorship side of things. I can’t say much more than that, which is upsetting really for the effort that has gone into what we have been doing. That is the plan [to be back next year] and we will be working hard with hopefully the same crew.”
