Tristan Palmer has been draughted in as a late replacement for Simon Andrews at Brands Hatch World Superbikes as the regular Lloyds British Jentin Yamaha rider is in too much discomfort to continue into qualifying this afternoon.
Andrews, who crashed heavily at a Mallory test session on Wednesday, went out in first free practice this morning but only managed six laps before having to come in.
He has been to the Clinca Mobile this morning for treatment and was due another session there over the lunchbreak.
Andrews said: "I am gutted that I am not riding but my knee is really very bad. I am just hoping it will be better for Knockhill so I can race where it really counts."
Palmer, however, isn’t actually here this weekend and is currently on his way down from Tamworth and will get on the bike for the first time tomorrow.
