Brookes confident in 'difficult conditions' at Jerez test

Returning MCE British Superbike star Josh Brookes is ready to start eliminating setup options on the Anvil TAG Yamaha after a day of testing at Jerez in drying conditions.

Brookes spent most of yesterday either in the garage or on wets but today was a little better. The Andalucian circuit didn’t try fully due to cool air temperature but Brookes was able to put in some useful work and will start back to back testing setups and data, paying particular attention to shock and link settings.

“The track is still damp even after a full day of riding. There wasn’t much rain, more of a mist but with the cool temperatures it just didn’t dry but I am actually quite pleased with bike as I had the confidence to really trail brake into corners and use a lot of acceleration across some of the damp patches,” said Brookes, speaking at the track.

“I was really predictable so for me that’s a good sign of a bike in difficult conditions. I am in a good range with the comfort of the bike having had a full season in 2015, I feel relaxed and at home straightaway. The areas of focus for tomorrow will be the rear of the bike. We need to try a different link setting and ride height which is closer to what I rode at Phillip Island WorldSBK.

“We have used a lot of the settings the team came here with and now I am interested to try what I have had before back to back and see the good and bad points to cross reference them with my own feedback and the data we have. Then we can decide which is better or if there is something in the middle. I will let the bike dictate where we go according to the results.”
