BSB to remain on Sky after last-minute deal with Discovery

To not may people’s surprise, MCE British Superbikes will remain on Sky channels in 2017 after a last-minute deal between the satellite broadcaster and Eurosport’s parent company Discovery Communications.

The two firms had got into some handbags over how much Sky should pay to broadcast Discovery’s channels, which include Eurosport, Quest, Discovery et al, and Murdoch’s operation announced that it was ‘unlikely’ to show any of their content from February 1 onwards.

Miraculously, with just hours to go before the switch off, a deal has been done and it’s G&Ts all round at The Groucho Club.

“We want to thank our millions of viewers and fans for their overwhelming support over the last few days. We have been humbled by the strength of the passion people feel for all our brands, including Discovery Channel, Eurosport, TLC, Animal Planet and Investigation Discovery,” gushed Susanna Dinnage, Managing Director, Discovery Networks UK.

“We have reached a new agreement that guarantees Sky’s customers access to Discovery’s wide range of channels and programmes for years to come. Our fans’ voices were heard loud and clear. They want choice and great TV and I cannot stress how much we love them for their support.”
