Buchan returns to Superstock 1000 with Morello Kawasaki

Essex wideboy Danny Buchan will return to the Pirelli National Superstock Championship in 2017 with Morello Kawasaki and aims to win more races next season than he did in his championship year.

Buchan was dominant in 2014, taking nine races wins over the season for Tsingtao Kawasaki, and wants to have an even better year after a difficult 2016 in the blue riband MCE British Superbike Championship.

“Obviously, where I would like to be is in British Superbikes but given my year in 2016, I didn’t justify a Superbike ride and I think there are previous race winners who still haven’t finalised their deals. With a couple of teams leaving, guys coming in from World Superbikes, it doesn’t leave a lot of seats,” said Buchan, speaking to BSN.

“Trying to justify chasing a ride in BSB was impossible, so I spoke to Steve Buckenham at Morello Racing, we discussed what we both wanted to achieve and we came to an agreement, along with Kawasaki UK, and we will run under the Team Green banner.

“Kawasaki really want to win with the new ZX-10RR. I did it in 2014 so my goal for next year is to do better than I did in my championship year, so win more than nine races. It won’t be easy as there are some good riders in it and there are a few moving back too but I am two years wiser, two years more fitness under my belt, so I am looking forward to it. Hopefully, I can then make a plan to be back in Superbikes for 2018.

“I’m looking forward to going racing in Superstock again, Morello have a good pedigree so I am confident we can do a good job.”
