Essex Nando’s botherer Danny Buchan has split with the Tsingtao MSS Kawasaki squad ahead of this weekend’s Donington MCE British Superbike round.

Buchan rode with the team for just two meetings and will now be looking for his third ride of the season after he parted company with Moto Rapido Ducati after Thruxton.

“After rushing around and building a bike with MSS Performance we are now left with no rider in the Superbike class. It’s a real shame as Danny has scored almost a third of his points with us in two rounds and has finished all five races in the points,” said team boss Dave Tyson.

“The championship has moved on pace-wise and we could clearly see that at the weekend with the top nine under the lap record in qualifying, Danny’s fastest time from last year which would have only got him 16th. understand he felt the bike needed improvement for him to break in the top ten however in the timescale and with the budget we had it was something that would take more of both to bring some success.

“The team and MSS had limited budget for Superbike, we asked the rider to pay for some costs and that also formed part of his decision the leave. It now leaves us with a good bike which has been faultless mechanically and fast enough to score points needing a rider. There is a requirement for the rider to bring some financial support for the remainder of the 2016 season.”

Buchan has defended his decision to leave, saying that he didn’t want to ride what would be an uncompetitive bike at the three remaining fast tracks left in the championship.

“Originally, we said we would take it round by round to see how we did. We got the bike ready in a short space of time and did OK at Cadwell. We made some changes to it for Oulton and it just wasn’t any better. I struggled to get inside the top 20 there and that is my best track,” Buchan told bikesportnews.com at lunchtime.

“The only way I scored points was because people fell off. The next three tracks are fast and we don’t have the power. I sat down with Nick (Morgan, MSS owner and Buchan’s manager) and he told me we would struggle because we can’t get the speed out of the bike in time.

“I have some reputation left as a rider and I don’t want to tarnish that going into the off-season with bad results. To be honest, I thought I was on a free ride for the rest of the season and we weren’t going to pay out money to be uncompetitive.”
