Cadwell BSB: Good bike balance is key for front-rower Byrne

Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne will start from second on the grid for the first MCE British Superbike race at Cadwell Park. The Panigale man was narrowly out-paced by JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam during qualifying and missed out on pole by 0.2 seconds.

Byrne stated that it was ‘important’ to start on the front row and his team have used the three qualifying sessions to find a ‘better balance for the bike’. The changes his PBM team made appeared to have worked as he lapped a very fast 1’26.159.on an SC1 front and SC0 rear tyres.

The current championship leader led the charge during the final free practice session and is confident that his machine will be strong in both races at the Lincolnshire track.

“Cadwell Park is a difficult track and it is important to start on the front row and we have been changing the bike a bit throughout the qualifying sessions to find a better balance for the race,” said Byrne after qualifying.

“The last change we made for that last exit was good. My first lap was not that fast and the second was the same and the third one was a bit slower, so I thought lets try and get everything perfect and see how we go. I am happy and the bike is working well and for the races tomorrow it should be strong.”
