Lee Jackson held off Billy McConnell to take victory in this afternoon’s Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race as Keith Farmer crashed and threw away the series lead.

The Lincoln rider hit the front late in the race and saw off attempts from Buildbase Suzuki’s McConnell as he snatched his first win in the class in over four years.

McConnell made a strong start from the middle of the front row while Jackson tucked in behind and ahead of Farmer, who was soon eclipsed by 2015 champ Josh Elliott.

While Elliot fell victim to a tight Farmer pass at Mansfield to be shoved back to fourth, it was soon a four-horse race as the leading quartet stretched a 2.2s gap over the chasing pack, separated by no more than 0.7s in the battle for victory.

FS-3 Racing Kawasaki’s Jackson continued to take looks at McConnell at Park corner and despite not making a move, he sat right at the Aussie’s wheel waiting to pounce on a mistake.

Jackson finally hit the front as he set McConnell up exiting Coppice, but McConnell barged back through coming out of Charlie’s before Jackson made the exact same move stick the very next lap as the Suzuki man ran wide, leaving room for Farmer to slip through as well.

With three laps to go, Farmer out-braked Jackson at the entrance to Park, but Farmer threw away his championship lead moments later as he tucked the front hard at the Gooseneck, leaving Jackson to lead the order.

He and McConnell immediately stretched a gap over Elliott, but McConnell had a moment and lost vital ground on Jackson, meaning he eventually had to settle for 20 points as he regained the lead in the series while Jackson nabbed victory.

Elliott, who won last time out at Thruxton, cruised home in a lone third to take another podium for OMG Racing Suzuki.
