Red Bull Honda's Leon Camier is still suffering the after effects of his Suzuka testing crash and felt it after three full days' of WorldSBK testing at Portimao.

The Briton fractured his T5 vertebrae when he fell at turn ten - the same place where old friend Casey Stoner broke his leg in the 2015 race - and it is still inflamed even though the incident happened some six weeks ago.

"It was lucky that it was just broken and not twisted out of place. There is a lot of inflammation and there's not a lot you can do except just let the bone heal. The problem is the inflammation stays in the bone for a long time," said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Portimao.

"I just lost the front. It's a fast corner and it was my mistake. We got there in the morning, drove straight to the track, within two hours I was on the bike after getting off the flight from Misano, so that's never ideal.

"I went out, rode around with everyone and laptimes weren't what I was doing in the test before but not horifically bad. I was getting a bit like, 'I have to get on with this', I was out on old tyres and I was on a decent-ish lap.

"I went in there, grabbed the front brake and it let go. We had a different chassis setting in it too which wasn't much good but it was one of those things."
