Donington WSBK: ‘I’m not putting any pressure on myself’ - Beaubier

Cameron Beaubier is American racing’s hottest prospect and he will put himself front and centre at this weekend’s Donington World Superbike round as he stands in for the injured Sylvain Guintoli at Pata Yamaha.

The likeable California kid hasa raced at Donington before, back in 2009 on a 125GP KTM, so knows which way it goes but he says he is there to have fun and isn’t putting pressure on himself but is also aware the world will be watching.

“In MotoAmerica, I am racing against Toni Elias, Roger Hayden and Josh Hayes, and I feel they are world class riders but everyone in WSBK is world class so it is going to be tough,” Beaubier told bikesportnews.com before heading to the airport.

“It is a little bit intimidating going over there as everyone is so new and there will be so many new things thrown at me, but I don’t want one performance to be the base of anyone’s evaluation.

“I am going to have fun, not put too much pressure on myself. Yeah, that’s where I want to be but we will see what happens. I have a good thing going on here with Yamaha, we have a good family system but if the right opportunity presented itself with Yamaha there, I would be silly to turn it down.”
