Giugliano splits with Tyco BMW on medical grounds

Italian star Davide Giugliano has split with the Tyco BMW MCE British Superbike team head of this weekend’s Knockhill round as rehabilitation from his Brands Hatch crash is taking longer than expected.

Giugliano hurt himself in a fall at the Kent track and it added to the injuries he had sustained in heavy crashes at Laguna Seca and Phillip Island in previous years.

“Unfortunately, my rehabilitation work following the injury still needs more time. Taking this into consideration, the team and I have jointly agreed on an early termination to the agreement,” he said.

“This will allow Tyco BMW to continue in the championship in the best possible way, letting me focus on my full recovery, in order to return to riding as soon as possible. I would like to say thank you to Philip Neill, the TAS Racing team and BMW for their work and co-operation. I wish all the guys at TAS the best in the current season and the future.”

Andy Reid is squarely in the frame to replace Giugliano as the young Irishman hasn’t managed to secure a ride this year but don’t discount Josh Elliott who is having a run out with the Moneymore squad in Superstock 1000 in Scotland.
