Haslam brushes off crash to chase Sykes' times at Aragon test

Former World Superbike star Leon Haslam found good setup direction with his JG Speedfit Kawasaki BSB bike and was lapping only half a second slower than the works ZX-10Rs of Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes at Motorland Aragon.

The Derby rider is still working on the 2015-spec bike as he is awaiting a parts upgrade but brashed off a crash in the early part of Wednesday when gusts of wind caused problems to get down to some serious work yesterday.

“The first day only a couple of people went out as it was so windy and I had a crash after three laps but I managed to get back but it was hard with the wind. Yesterday, there was no wind but the track temperature didn’t get above ten degrees, so pretty cold,” said Haslam.

“I stayed on the 2015 spec bike and was within half a second of the factory Kawasaki boys’ times so pretty happy with that. Obviously, they’re not as fast as they were in November as it was cold but it’s all relative.

“We got a good setting with the chassis now and worked with the hard rear tyre. I was happy. We have got a few things we need to address and we’re waiting for the new parts to come. It is all laps needed, so good work done.”
