JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam ended the final day of a joint private test at Monteblanco setting the pace ahead of Glenn Irwin as conditions improved on the third day before the teams now set off for their final Spanish test at Guadix.

The opening two days of the test had been hampered by mixed conditions, but the teams made the most of the track time in both wet and dry conditions and ended the test on a positive note as Haslam continued to evaluate a range of different parts, previously tested at Jerez.

Haslam said: “Today has been one of the most positives days, we had a lot of new components over the winter which we evaluated during our January test at Jerez. For me we revaluated those parts at this circuit for a comparison, which we have done in both wet and dry conditions. We are in a really good place, better than last year and the overall package is really strong. We move on to Guadix now to carry that momentum into our next test before Donington Park.”

Irwin had focused on electronic settings and admitted he felt more comfortable on the Be Wiser Ducati and adapting his style before completing some longer runs by comparison to the previous test at Cartagena.

Jason O’Halloran and Dan Linfoot returned to the circuit that Honda Racing have tested at in previous seasons and both riders admitted that they had been making strides forward with the Fireblade, working through chassis changes and engine specifications testing back-to-back comparison.

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne admitted it was a difficult test for him, suffering with feeling on the Be Wiser Ducati, although the defending champion is confident that the team have a solution to the problem ahead of their next test at Guadix.
