Hickman targets first roads win at Ulster Grand Prix

Fan favourite Peter Hickman is targeting his first international roads win at this year’s Ulster Grand Prix after a sterling effort at the Isle of Man TT.

The 28-year-old Lincolnshire man put himself in the top-ten fastest ever laps around the TT course on his Briggs BMW S1000RR and says if everything falls into place at Dundrod, he is expecting some podiums.

“I’ve had some good results on the roads and I’m confident I can do it at the Ulster. If everything falls into place with the bike and the conditions the podium is definitely possible and I’d like to be in the position to push for the win,” said Hickman.

“I can’t wait to get going at the Ulster, I really enjoyed myself last year. The track seems to suit my style as there are lots of long, flowing corners and it’s easy to get a rhythm.

“The circuit wasn’t too difficult for me to learn. The hardest thing last season was moving from a Honda in BSB to a BMW on different tyres for the roads, but this year it’s the same bike and the same team so we should be strong.

“I’ve had a lot of time on the bike and my fitness is good again so we’re in a good place.”
