‘I’m going to have a go’ says Lowes ahead of Silverstone MotoGP bow

Britain’s Alex Lowes will make his competitive MotoGP debut at Silverstone this weekend and says that although he needs to spend time learning the bike, the tyres, the brakes and the electronics, he will definitely be having a go come raceday.

As revealed by BSN, the Pata Yamaha World Superbike man will stand in for Bradley Smith at his home grand prix and at Misano in the Monster Tech3 team alongside Suzuka Eight-Hours team-mate Pol Espargaro.

“You are never going to say no to riding a MotoGP bike at your home Grand Prix. In an ideal world, you’d have a few test days to get used to it. Obviously, this isn’t going to be easy as they are the best riders in world and the most important thing is just to enjoy it,” Lowes told bikesportnews.com

“I am looking forward to it. You know me, I am going to have a go but I am going to learn as much as I can at Silverstone too. I’m going to do my best but you have to be realistic. If I can do a good job at Silverstone, improve every session over the weekend and then at Misano I will have a bit more knowledge.

“I need to be a bit sensible and built up, but I am not going to be worried about being last on Friday or whatever. I think we will be alright but it will definitely be interesting.”
