Race two winner Leon Haslam admits problems with his JG Speedfit Kawasaki held him back this weekend, despite leaving Knockhill with the same gap over Jake Dixon that he started the round with.

Electrical woes, including issues with the blipper system, plagued the series leader during all three days at the Scottish circuit.

Haslam capitalised on a mistake from Jake Dixon which ultimately gave him the win in today’s second race, but he revealed it was far from easy to come from sixth on the grid all the way to the front.

And although the factory Kawasaki squad made changes to try to remedy the issues, the Snetterton double-winner’s job was made even more difficult after he realised those changes sent him in the wrong direction.

“We didn’t solve any of the problems we had from the first race, we just tried something a bit different – and actually made it worse,” Haslam revealed.

“Race one I was kind of waiting to go but as soon as I started to push on, the backshift blips got bigger and bigger and I made three or four big mistakes going into the hairpin.

“I was really riding at the limit, it was really bad and that’s why I ran off a few times. It did push me on a few times and I thought it would be nagging again in the last laps.

“The second race was a long one and it was hard to come from the second row, so by the time I caught up to Jake my rear tyre was slipping and sliding. But at the end of the day it was nice to be back on the top step.”
