Laverty moving towards a MotoGP deal for 2017

Aspar Ducati’s Eugene Laverty has said he is moving towards a MotoGP deal for the 2017 season which will more than likely make some moves in the World Superbike paddock happen sooner rather than later.

Speaking in a video Q&A (click here to watch) at the Red Bull Ring after the test today, Laverty said he wants to have a new deal signed and sealed when the MotoGP circus goes back to Austria for the race in a couple of weeks.

“It’s still not fixed. After this test things should move more quickly. I want to get signed soon and come back here for the race with a contract already signed. That is my intention,” he said.

It is thought that although Alvaro Bautista looks set for a move into the Aspar Ducati team, Laverty may either stay there as his team-mate or move to Avintia in place of Loris Baz while Yonny Hernandez remains where he is.

Laverty is believed to have options alongside brother in law Chaz Davies in the Aruba Ducati team and also with an unconfirmed Aprilia squad, possibly run by Shaun Muir Racing.
