Lowes ready to ‘kick off’ second half of season

Britain’s Sam Lowes says he is ready to kick off the second half of his Moto2 season at this weekend’s Silverstone MotoGP round while his future remains up in the air with an Aprilia contract on the table as well as offers from other Moto2 teams

The 24-year-old sits fourth in the title standings behind runaway championship leader Johann Zarco, Tito Rabat and Alex Rins, and secured a stunning victory at the Circuit of the Americas earlier this season.

With a treble of podiums to his name as well, Lowes is hopeful that his extra experience of riding Silverstone – along with added support at his home round – will give him the impetus to perhaps add to his American victory.

“Silverstone is a great circuit, I’ve enjoyed some great races there and there’s nothing can ever match racing in front of your home fans,” said Lowes.

“Getting everything right in Moto2 is never easy but we’re working at it and improving as a team race by race.

“Right now I’m ready to kick off the second half of the season and a win at Silverstone would definitely be the highlight of the year so I’ll be doing everything to achieve that.”

It remains unclear whether Lowes is certain to move to Aprilia but if there is to be an announcement, expect it to be at Misano, not Silverstone.
