Manx GP riders ‘feel like second-class citizens’

Manx GP riders feel like second-class citizens as the paddock facilties are not up to scratch, according to Manx Motorcycle Club chairman Harvey Garton.

As the Classic TT - which is run concurrently - grows in size, Garton believes the Manx GP riders feel like they are being marginalised as the facilities in the Nobles Park area can’t cater for the sheer number of competitors and team-members that descend on the island for both the August event and the earlier TT.

“A number of our competitors have said, more than ever this year, they have felt like second-class citizens. They are the people that don’t have self-contained motorhomes and are reliant on what is provided,” said Garton.

“Without something really dramatic happening with Nobles Park it is difficult to imagine how you can address that issue because Nobles isn’t just an area for four weeks a year.”
