MotoGP Aragon: Espargaro hits out at Marquez' yellow flag crash

Aleix Espargaro has hit out at Marc Marquez saying his carelessness in today’s MotoGP free practice three could’ve killed someone.

The Suzuki Ecstar pilot was suitably vexed at his countryman after today’s shenanigans at Aragon when Marquez crashed under a yellow flag.

The series leader lost control of his Repsol Honda and tipped off, taking out Aleix’s brother Pol and sending them both careering towards marshals who were helping Nicky Hayden up from a similar crash moments later.

No-one was hurt, and Marquez later claimed it wasn’t his fault but Suzuki Ecstar pilot Aleix was having none of it.

“When there is a yellow flag in the track you need to brake a little bit earlier because it means that there is the marshals and somebody on the floor.

“He crashed - for sure he brake too late. And the bike almost hit the marshals and Nicky. He’s my brother but this can’t happen.

“The thing is when its yellow flags you cannot crash because it could be persons working in the track and if the bike hit them you can kill them, very, very easily.”

Espargaro hinted that this was a problem Marquez needs to seriously look, at saying it had happened before.

“It’s not the first time,” he added. “It was the same problem at Silverstone two years ago. We were very lucky then and this second time we were very lucky. I hope there’s not going to be a third time. You just need to break one metre earlier and that’s it.”
