MotoGP Aragon: Redding and Petrucci in scrap over GP17

Britain’s Scott Redding has another incentive to beat Octo Pramac team-mate Danilo Petrucci as it looks like whichever rider has the best run of results from the Aragon MotoGP round onwards will get a factory Desmosedici GP17 next year.

Although there is nothing concrete from the factory, it is believed that whichever rider scores the most points between now and the season finale at Valencia will be handed a full factory bike.

“It was with the team and Ducati because obviously everyone is involved with it,” Redding said at the track. “A fight for the factory.”

“And it's difficult because if they say, ‘OK, we've got two riders and one bike'. We said it's going to cause a shit atmosphere between us if you just give it to one, because the other one is going to be pissed off. So what else do you want to do?

“They can't make another bike so they needed to find the best way and that was the best and fairest solution. Races and we can drop one of the worst results. We will maybe know before Valencia. It is just whoever comes out on top is going to get the bike.”

At the moment, Redding leads Petrucci by just five points with 125 left on the table between now and the chequered flag at Valencia.
