Britain’s Danny Kent was beaten to Moto3 pole position by the narrowest of margins at Argentina’s MotoGP round as Miguel Oliveira nipped to the top of the timesheets with his final lap of qualifying.
Kent, on the Leopard Racing Honda, had set a 1’48.511 to top Nico Antonelli in the final minutes and looked a shoo-in for his second pole position in a row but Red Bull Ajo’s Oliveira went ahead by 0.050s.
Antonelli remained on the front row with his lap of 1’48.665 but he had Kent’s team-mate Efren Vasquez for company but the Spaniard was just 0.064s shy. Isaac Vinales was fifth with Karel Hanika sixth.
It was a tough session for Scotland’s John McPhee who finished in 19th place after showing good pace in free practice three.
