MotoGP Australia: Iannone sticks two fingers up at ‘doubters’

Ecstar Suzuki’s Andrea Iannone has silenced doubters like Kevin Schwantz and Cal Crutchlow with his second top-six MotoGP finish in as many weeks as his team continue to reap the benefits of a two-day Aragon test.

Iannone was able to fight with the likes of Marquez, Rossi and Vinales in the closing stages of yesterday’s Phillip Island encounter, just seven days after taking fourth place in the rain at Motegi, and he would like to know why anyone would still doubt his commitment or ability.

"Considering how many times I had to hear about my results with Suzuki, this definitely satisfies me a lot. Today I heard people say they remembered how strong I am. But I never forgot it and I never stopped believing in my potential,” said Iannone, speaking at the track.

"I tried to keep my head down and get back to where we should be, and I'm surprised if anyone still has any doubts."

“This is a good track for us. We have the bike most of the time at an angle, and Suzuki bike at an angle is one of the best bikes. But when we pick up, we lose again.

"We hope to be competitive enough in the last two races as well, even though on paper they look difficult. Let's see what will happen."
