It was an action packed third Moto3 practice session at Brno’s MotoGP round this morning with multiple crashers in the first part of the session.
Emerging fastest from the carnage was Nicolo Bulega who posted a 2'08.773 just as the chequered flag came out which saw him firing from fifteenth to first place.
Bulega was one of the many riders who came off in the session. The 17 year old Italian launched himself over the bars after high siding his SKY Racing Team VR46 KTM at turn ten. After a quick visit to the medical center, he managed to get back out on the circuit to produce his lap time which bumped Philipp Oettl (Südmetall Schedl GP Racing) to second place, who also crashed as well.
The German rider came off at turn four along with French rider, Jules Danilo (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers). Oettl, who posted a 2'08.899, was unable to re-join the session after he was taken off on a stretcher for a medical check-up. Danilo on the other hand did manage to get back on the circuit towards the back end of the session finishing in twenty first place.
Spain’s Aron Canet was third fastest on his Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda machine. He moved to third place with fourteen minutes remaining in the session by stopping the clock with a 2'09.150.
Leopard Racing’s Livio Loi moved his way to fourth place place, once again in the dying minutes of the session, while Tony Arbolino rounded out the top five on the SIC58 Squadra Corse Honda entered machine.
Moto3 championship leader Joan Mir blasted his way from mid pack to finish the session in sixth place when he stormed to a 2'09.275 as the session came to an end.
Other notable riders to come unstuck in the third practice session were Bulega’s teammate Andrea Migno, Enea Bastianini (Estrella Galicia 0,0) and Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Niccolò Antonelli who crashed twice in the session.
The first rider to hit the ground was UK’s John McPhee, who came off at turn ten. McPhee, who had a few small issues in yesterday’s second practice session did manage to get back out on track with seven minutes remaining in the session and posted a 2'10.405 which was good enough for twenty third place.
