MotoGP Germany: Grip issues scupper series leader Dovizioso

MotoGP series leader Andrea Dovizioso struggled with grip problems in today’s MotoGP qualifying at the Sachsenring, finding he had no traction with the soft rear Michelin after four slow laps.

Dovizioso, who is known as a useful wet weather rider, ended today’s qualifying two 1.4s off the pace and down in tenth place as his Desmosedici had no pace when he needed it.

“Today it was very bad, I'm not happy about our position and laptime. I didn't manage the qualifying the perfect way, but the reason is what happened is the opposite thing from yesterday, so I couldn't know,” said Dovizioso, speaking at the track/

“Yesterday I did 24 laps with the same tyre and I did the laptime in the end and I didn't have any problem with the drop on the rear tyre.

“And today in four laps - I decided to not push in the first four laps especially on the rear - I finished the tyre, and I didn't have any more grip. Also the electronics didn't work in the right way because I finished the tyre. At the end I tried to push but I was so slow and the tyre was finished. I didn't expect and that's why we are 10th.”
