MotoGP Jerez: Kent snatches last-corner Moto3 win

Britain’s Danny Kent has snatched victory in this morning’s Moto3 race at the Jerez MotoGP round and made it three wins in a row as he snatched the win on the brakes into the final corner and equalled Barry Shee’s achievement of three wins in a row set in 1977.

Kent was in second behind Portugese rider Miguel Oliveria through the fast rights and went underneath him on the brakes into the final turn.

A mistake by youngster Fabio Quartararo saw him get it all sideways trying to pass everyone, just miss Kent and Oliveira and give Kent the small breathing space needed to cross the line by 0.097s.

“I knew he was going to try and do something, he has been strong here all weekend so he wanted to win. I think all three of us had the same plan to go for the inside, we came together but we all stayed on. I am just happy to get another win,” said Kent, speaking in parc ferme.

The Marc VDS rider’s error handed South African Brad Binder the final podium spot with Kent’s team-mate Efren Vasquez fifth, Romano Fenati sixth, Francesco Bagnaia seventh, Jorge Navarro eighth and Enea Bastianini ninth.

John McPhee fought his way from 25th on the grid to take a tenth place finish.
