MotoGP Jerez: Moto3 front row for Kent

Britain’s Danny Kent will start tomorrow’s Moto3 race from the front row of the grid at the Jerez MotoGP round after having to abandon both his final flying laps due to traffic.

The Leopard Honda rider finished qualifying in second place, 0.120s behind MarcVDS wunderkind Fabio Quartararo, with a lap of 1’46.911 but ditched his penultimate lap and was then held up by Zulfahmi Khairuddin on his last lap and had to settle for second place.

Portugese star Miguel Oliveria completes the front row with a lap of 1’46.984 while Brad Binder, Philipp Oettl and Karel Hanika complete row two. Hanika crashed out on his last lap at turn nine and was lucky not to collect Remy Gardner.

It wasn’t the only end-of-session piece of weirdness as Stefano Manzi was so busy looking at a big screen, he didn’t see Oliveira take his practice start position and ran into the back of the Honda man. Fortunately, he had been able to anchor up so the impact was minimal.

Scotland’s John McPhee had a disaster and will start from 25th place. He hasn’t been able to find any pace all weekend and is 1.3s in arrears.
