Movistar Yamaha ringmaster Lin Jarvis is in ‘no rush’ to sign a replacement for the departing Jorge Lorenzo but admitted rising star Maverick Vinales is close to a deal.
Jarvis insists he is talking to many riders about partnering Valentino Rossi in the MotoGP squad but there is no time limit on when the decision will be made.
“There are many on-going discussions and there is no deadline. He is, in this moment, very close. We are in discussions with the managers of several riders,” said Jarvis, speaking at Jerez. “We have expressed our interest and there is an ongoing discussion.”
When asked about the likelihood of Marc Marquez joining hated rival Rossi in the team, Jarvis joked: “I think it’s highly unlikely that Vale and Marc Marquez will share the same pitbox next year.”
