MotoGP Le Mans: Last to fourth for Kent in Moto3

Britain’s Danny Kent put in a riding masterclass to come from the 11th row of the grid to bag fourth place in today’s Moto3 race at Le Mans and extended his championship lead as Fabio Quartararo and Efren Vasquez both crashed out.

Kent was caught out in qualifying and had to start from the back of the grid. After a bad start, he scythed his way through the field, hitting 17th place on the first lap and then clawed his way to tenth by lap 19.

Kent then had a two-second gap to bridge to Isaac Vinales, which he managed even though the Spaniard was turning in fast lap and then title rival Quartararo crashed out, joining Vasquez on the DNF list after the Spaniard last four corners.

Nico Anontelli was next on Kent’s hit list and it took the Leopard Honda man a little while to get past. With five laps to go, Kent ran out of rear tyre and struggled to battle with the top three. He did pass Enea Bastianini a couple of times but settled for fourth place.

Romano Fenati took the win with Bastianini second and Francesco Bagnaia third. John McPhee’s tough weekend continued and he finished down in 17th place.
