MotoGP Mugello: ‘I miss winning’ - Lowes

Britain’s Sam Lowes is desperate to add to his sole Moto2 victory of the year so far at this weeekend’s Mugello MotoGP round for the simple reason that he misses winning races.

The Speed Up rider, who was victorious in the class for the first time at Austin, came into the championship after dominating World Supersport and after a tough first season, he is now able to consistntly run at the front, he just wants more top steps.

“I need to make sure I am faster in the first laps. We will be there. I need to be. I need to win. I miss winning. I have only done it once in this class but I miss it. The best thing is that everyone has finished behind you,” said Lowes, speaking ay the track.

“It’d hard to explain what is so good about it. In America, it was relief that I had proved I could do it. It’s getting the reward for all the effort you put in. Finishing fourth, fifth, sixth is alright, it’s a solid weekend but you need to be on that podium.

“At Jerez we were unlucky, at Qatar I made a mistake and apart from that I am not too far away. There’s only Zarco that has scored in all the races. The gap is 30-odd points but I just need to focus on winning, do the best job I can every weekend and see where we are at.

“We are that much faster at every track this year, it’s like my first year again. I am around a second faster at every track. Last year I didn’t do a 1’37 at Le Mans, this year I did most of the race in 1’37s.”
