MotoGP Qatar: Arm problem puts Pedrosa’s future in doubt

A recurring right forearm problem has put the future of Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa in jeopardy as he admitted after today’s Qatar MotoGP race that he couldn’t perform as he either wanted to or needed to due to the severeness of the issue.

The Spaniard has consulted a wide variety of specialists and surgeons, and has been told that a further operatio is not currently the answer due to the risks involved but he now seems at a loss for what to do next.

“I have been trying all this time to fix it and to improve. It hasn’t been easy, I went through one surgery which wasn’t successful, I tried not to say in public but Honda always knew. This winter I was travelling all over the world to try and get many opinions from doctors, trying to know if I could have a new surgery but all the answers were no,” said Pedrosa, speaking in Qatar.

“I tried to follow this advice and work in a non-aggressive way which brings me to today. I knew I wasn’t feeling very well but there was no option for me. Now the race is over, I can see I can’t perform as I know I can, I have to decide to find a way to solve this problem. I can’t continue racing and performing this way, so my plan is to fix my arm. I don’t know what it’s going to be as the doctors don’t know what to do to get rid of this problem.

“There are not so many answers for the moment, everything is quite uncertain. I hope to have news soon.”
