MotoGP Valencia: Rossi to make retirement decision in early 2018

Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi will make a decision on whether or not to retire next year in the early part of 2018.

The Movistar Yamaha rider, who will be 39 in February, expects to open talks with boss Lin Jarvis after a couple of races,” said Rossi, speaking at Valencia.

“I think after the first part of some races next year because at the end of next season the contract finishes.

“I have to see my speed, if we are competitive and able to make some good work with the bike. After some races we can speak with Yamaha and decide to continue or not.”

Rossi renewed his Yamaha deal at the opening round of the 2016 season and it will expire at the end of next season but Jarvis has already he said he doesn’t expect to do any negotiations that early.

Carmelo Ezpeleta is now arranging for a cardiac specialist to be on call from Losail onwards until Rossi signs…
