New ZX-10R has ‘huge potential’ says Ellison after shakedown test

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison says he is impressed with the potential of the new ZX-10R following a shakedown test alongside the World Superbike team at Motorland Aragon.

The Kendal native got down to low 1’53s laptimes using a standard engine while the team have switched to Showa suspension, which Ellison needs to familarise himself with. Ellison and new team-mate Peter Hickman will be back out again at the Jerez test next week.

“It was pretty good for one day on the bike and that the team only got them a week ago, it has got huge potential,” Ellison told bikesportnews.com.

“I was faster on the new bike than I was on my 2015 race bike. We have also been getting some initial feeling with the change to Showa suspension and although we have a lot of work to do, I felt chuffed with the initial impressions and feeling. This test and at Jerez next week, is about us getting adjusted and gathering the information we need so that the team can make a plan, so we are ready for the next test in January.

“It has been a productive start and now we have a few days back home before we move on to Jerez next week ready for the next two days on track - I can’t wait.”
