Imola WorldSBK: No MotoGP dialogue between Ducati and Davies

Ducati race boss Gigi Dall’Igna has confirmed that no talks have taken place regarding a possible move for Chaz Davies into the MotoGP fold for 2019-2020.

Ducati will keep eight bikes on the grid for the next two years with deals ‘very close’ to being signed with both Avintia and Aspar teams. It is thought that Karel Abraham and Alvaro Bautista will be ejected from the latter squad.

Avintia are set to keep the resurgent Tito Rabat and pay-rider Xavier Simeon, with Pecco Bagnaia coming in with a factory contract at Pramac to replace the departing Danilo Petrucci.

There are four potential spots that Davies could have slotted into - one in the facory, one at Pramac and two at Asar but Dall’Igna said no conversations have taken place.

“We didn’t speak with him about that,” said Dall’Igna and when asked if Davies had made an approach, the Ducati grand wizard said: “No”.
